TGHE - Boiler Servicing Bromley - Understanding boiler service & repairs

Understanding Boiler Servicing & Repairs

What’s the difference between a boiler service and a boiler repair? Well, put simply, service is like your car service; it maintains the safe level of operation of the boiler just like your annual car service keeps the car topped up, checked up, and in safe working order.

What a car service doesn’t do, and much like a boiler service, is cover the repair or replacement of faulty or broken parts. Repair requirements can occur from overuse, wrong use, poor maintenance, and countless other things that are beyond what would be expected to be fixed in a boiler service (just like your car!)

Whilst we offer boiler repair services in and around Bromley, any boiler repair work will sit outside of the provision that is outlined in our boiler Cosy Plan service plan (you’ll see more about this explained below)

TGHE Bromley Boiler Service Includes

If you’ve got a boiler that is still within its warranty lifespan, you must keep up with your boiler service schedule. Should anything go wrong with your boiler that requires repair or replacement and you haven’t maintained your regular service, the manufacturer may void your warranty, leaving you with a very expensive headache!

As an absolute minimum, our Standard Boiler Service will ensure your boiler warranty is secure and that your boiler is running as clean and efficiently as possible.

Safety & Performance Tests

Every boiler may have slightly different instructions but mostly include the following. The installation meets regulations, testing safety devices are still functioning, flue gas analysis, checking gas consumption, water leaks, cleaning the condensate trap and most importantly, testing that there are no gas leaks!

System Water Quality Test

Checking the heating systems’ water has long been good practice, but the recent changes in building regulations now require boiler servicing to include testing the water flowing through the heating system. Although the standard service includes the testing of system water, additional chemicals may be required after the test. Chemical dosage is not included in the standard service.

Main Service Requirements

The boilers manufacturer’s instructions will list the year or point that a main service is required. Unlike the standard annual service, a main service often requires that gaskets and electrodes are replaced as part of the service. This is normally around the fifth-year service but could depend on a performance test.

Our boiler service & homeowner care plans

We understand that a boiler service expense is not the most exciting way to spend your money. Sometimes we find it easier and more convenient for our customers to pay monthly via our unique boiler service payment plan. By breaking down the service payment into regular monthly instalments, you know that not only is your boiler service paid for in a more manageable way, you know that your service will be booked and carried out in a timely manner to ensure boiler warranty, safety and performance with a leading heating engineer.

Peace of mind:

You can rest easy knowing your next boiler service is paid for already and will be booked in by one of our heating engineers without you needing to worry.

No extra costs:

All serviceable parts & chemicals are included in our boiler plans saving you money when gaskets, electrodes & chemical redosing are identified as requiring replacement.

Monthly payments:

Convenient ways to spread the cost of your boiler service with smaller and regular direct debit payments rather than a one-off chunk!

We hope the TGHE boiler service plan is something you may consider.

We’ve set this up to offer maximum convenience for the people of Bromley and can’t wait to speak to you about it!

Boiler servicing & service plan Q&As

Whether it’s boiler installation, boiler servicing and repair, air conditioning or electrical work, often, you can find the answer to your question in the handy FAQs we’ve put together for you! Before you call an engineer, perhaps there’s an answer to your question below.

These questions are answered using our years of experience and listening to customers in the Bromley and North Kent area, so you can be assured the questions might help you, too!

Regular boiler servicing is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of your boiler. It helps detect potential issues early, which can prevent costly repairs in the future. Also, regular servicing can extend the lifespan of your boiler, saving you money in the long run.

It’s recommended to service your boiler once a year, ideally before winter sets in, to ensure it’s functioning correctly and efficiently. Regular servicing can help detect potential issues early and prolong the lifespan of your boiler.

Your boiler needs servicing annually to maintain energy efficiency and help avoid future breakdowns. Signs your boiler may need more than the standard service if you experience reduced heating efficiency, strange noises coming from the boiler, visible leaks, or the boiler frequently turning off on its own. If left too late, you may require costly boiler repairs or even boiler replacement.

A boiler service usually includes a series of checks to ensure your boiler is functioning correctly. This includes checking the boiler for any leaks or faults, assessing its components, cleaning or replacing components as necessary, and ensuring it’s operating at its optimal efficiency.

Yes, part of the reason for regular boiler servicing is to detect potential issues that could become major problems in the future. A qualified engineer will identify these issues during the service and recommend appropriate actions.

The cost of a boiler service can range from £80 to £120, depending on your location and the specific work required. Regular servicing is essential to ensure your boiler is running efficiently and safely.
This price usually includes a series of standard checks and basic maintenance but would not normally include new parts.

A standard boiler service usually takes between 30 minutes to an hour. However, the time can vary depending on the type and condition of the boiler, as well as if any issues are found that require immediate attention.

To prepare for a boiler service, ensure that the area around the boiler is clear and easily accessible. Also, have any relevant documents like your boiler’s manual or previous service records at hand when our engineer arrives.

While it may be tempting to service your boiler yourself, it’s not recommended. Boilers are complex pieces of equipment that require professional knowledge and skills to service properly. Always hire a Gas Safe registered engineer to ensure your boiler is serviced correctly and safely.
